Rolls‑Royce reimagines carbon fibre with a colourful twist.

Technical Weave is Bespoke’s sparkling interpretation of carbon fibre, accented with tinted strands of aluminium thread. In contrast to the monochromatic palette typically associated with the material, Technical Weave puts on a colourful display. The dazzling new feature, photographed here with LED lighting, was crafted in Mazarine Blue, Brenner Green, Austin Yellow and St. James Red. This can be exclusively seen across the fascia of each car within the Sportive Collection, developed for our Middle Eastern clientele.      

Technical Weave required twelve months of intensive development by the Bespoke team.

Since its automotive debut in 1981, carbon fibre has tantalised luxury car owners with its intricate pattern display and unrivalled performance. Though its benefits are many, working with carbon fibre is an infamously pernickety endeavour. If handled without careful attention, the raw material can be easily damaged by something as insignificant as a misplaced fingerprint.

Carbon fibre has appeared previously on other Rolls-Royce models, yet the addition of colour is a rare concept.

Bespoke personally inspected every millimetre of Technical Weave employed for the collection. Multiple team members were tasked with reviewing the same piece of textile, ensuring geometric perfection and guaranteeing that microscopic flaws weren’t overlooked. This phase was performed with the assistance of “night searcher” lights, which expose textile blemishes by mimicking sunlight indoors.

 

The material underwent a delicate cleaning only once deemed flawless — a careful, by-hand process. Given the unstable nature of the raw material, machine-automated cleaning was immediately ruled out as an option. Feather-light pressure was applied by hand with pure cotton cloths, wiping away any loose fibres at risk of ruining the end result.

Next, a high-gloss layer that accentuates Technical Weave’s signature sparkle was applied. The lacquer was sanded and levelled using an electronic gauge, then buffed — all by hand. Machines were too abrasive for the task and at risk of penetrating the protective lacquer, which would destroy the delicate strands underneath. This time-intensive process was repeated twice before the desired, mirror-like shine was achieved.

After being fit into place across the Wraith’s fascia, Technical Weave was ready for its shimmering reveal.
