Black Badge Cullinan Series II represents a new dawn for Rolls-Royce. For the first time, it transcends from the darkness and moves into the light.

Contrasted against a white canvas, the Spirit of Ecstasy, window surrounds, and door handles are a graphic shade of black. Artisans hand-prepare each handle with a light abrasive — providing a ‘key’ for the hard wearing primer — before applying four coats of black paint. The surfaces are then meticulously polished to match the rich, high-gloss coachwork. 

Other subversive elements, including the chrome exhausts, are treated with a specific chrome electrolyte to create a mirror-black effect. The electrolyte is introduced to the traditional plating process and co-deposited on the stainless-steel substrate, darkening the finish. Its final thickness is
just one micrometre — around one-hundredth of the width of a human hair.

Embellishing the seats, an interior of Duality Twill textile — a new rayon fabric crafted from bamboo — incorporates up to 2.2 million stitches and 11 miles of thread. The use of this material is a homage to the extensive bamboo grove in Le Jardin des Méditerranées on the Côte d’Azur, which neighbours Sir Henry Royce’s former winter home, Villa Mimosa.
 
The textile is embroidered with distinctive ‘Duality’ graphics, carefully and individually sewn to ensure complete uniformity. The pattern’s inspiration is twofold: it serves as an abstract interpretation of the interlinked ‘R’ iconography of our co-founders’ initials, and also references the interweaving rope lines found on sailing yachts — a subtle allusion
to the French Riviera.

For the first time, 23-inch wheels embolden a Black Badge model. 

From a distance, the wheel design appears to consist of five spokes finished in gloss-black and silver. In reality, 10 interwoven spokes exist within a carefully orchestrated interplay of polished, painted, negative, and recessed surfaces. 

This abstract design ensures clear visibility of the Black Badge disc brake calliper — a vivid accent presented in signature Red, Black, Turchese, Mandarin, or
Forge Yellow.
